"We will remain committed to that."
Last week Lidl unveiled plans to create 5,000 jobs over the next five years as part of a £220 million UK expansion programme.
The supermarket said it is expecting customer spending to rocket from £3.3 billion in 2013 to £4 billion.
Managing director Ronny Gottschlich said that UK-sourced goods account for more than £1.75billion of its turnover.
