Georgia peanut crop behind schedule
The crop is about 2 or 3 weeks behind schedule according the the Georgia Peanut Commission.
The cold winter forced farmers to plant late, and the lack of rain has stopped the growth.
Don Koehler at the Georgia Peanut Commission says a couple things have to happen to have a good season.
"Depending on what the weather does, if it rains and we don't get an early frost or something that like that, then we can come out of this but it certainly concerns me early on in the progress of this crop," said Koehler.
Koehler says its important to remember that a poor yield will affect more than just the farmers.
