Harvesting of ElCabo tomatoes by MeridiemSeeds started a few weeks ago.
MeridiemSeeds managers said that "ElCabo de Tomate is definitely drawing some attention, as the market is increasingly interested in medium-big fruits with a deep red colour and excellent shelf-life that are also fleshy and tasty. ElCabo are perfect, also thanks to their acidity/Brix ratio."
Vittoria's wholesale market is currently the natural outlet for ElCabo tomatoes, where they are treated, sold and shipped to Central-Northern Italy.
The produce should be available for the next two months. "These tomatoes are packed in single-layer basket boxes with cells. Fruits are usually partially or fully red."
"This excellent produce is raising the interest of growers, especially as it can be eaten in many ways. It is in fact ideal for both the Lazio area, where they eat it with rice, and Central-Northern Italy, where they prefer it grilled, au gratin or diced.
