San Lucar publishes 2014 sustainability report
The SanLucar CR-report is published in three languages: German, English and Spanish
In line with the corporate philosophy ‘Taste in harmony with people and nature’, the globally active fruit and vegetable grower and retailer promotes projects in Germany, Austria and Spain, along with Tunisia, South Africa and Ecuador, that benefit people within the SanLucar community. This not only includes employees, but also cultivation partners and their families, as well as members of the community around individual SanLucar locations.
SanLucar owner Stephan Rötzer and Jorge Peris (General Manager), both with the company since 1993, seen here in the SanLucar citrus groves near Valencia.
Given that nature forms the basis of the fruit and vegetable brand’s day-today work, striking an ecological balance is just as important for SanLucar as a responsible approach to people. Thus the company was able to achieve a reduction of around 183.6 tonnes of plastic for its primary packaging during the previous financial year – almost 20 per cent more than planned.
In South Africa, the theme of education takes priority. Here SanLucar supports not only employees, but their children, too.
A further important project is d.r.e.a.m.s.*, the company’s own CR programme, comprising four dimensions around which the company’s commitments are oriented: education, social responsibility, environmental responsibility and economic development.
Alongside the highest in product quality, sustainable economic activity is the guiding principle for our corporate management. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to harvesting responsibly cultivated fruit with the very best flavour in the future, too,’ explains Stephan Rötzer, founder and owner of SanLucar.
