The "Clienti: priorità e nuovi driver di scelta" (Customers: priorities and new choice drivers) convention organised by Kiki Lab, a consultancy and research company specialised in Retail, was held in Milan. In addition to a report on the evolution of Retail by Kiki Lab, numerous companies took part (Leroy Merlin, Conad Italia, Marco Polo Expert and Vision Groups) to discuss the highlights of the World Retail Congress in Paris and for the "Retailer of the Year" (sixth edition in Italy - 27 sectors) and "Webshop Awards" (second edition - 3 sectors) ceremonies.
Lidl won "Retailer of the Year". "We made it! We are "Retailer of the Year 2013"! Thanks to all who voted," reads their Facebook page, in which the image below was posted as their cover photo.
Lidl is planning on investing €500 million on the growth and modernisation of its sales network in Italy. €100 million a year for five years: the German chain will open 120 new stores (from 800 to 1,200 sq m) - 24 a year and one every two weeks.
On 19th December, new stores in Rome (the 15th), Lamezia Terme, Bresso and in the province of Padua will open. Part of the investment will be used to update the 560 stores and provide them with new services.
"Our growth will continue at the same pace as in the past, also thanks to the success we had so far. The Italianisation of the supply is also helping, as 70% of the products are made in Italy also with some PDO and PGI ones," explained Luca Burgazzoli from Lidl Italia."
