Chile reduces apple export to Russia

Chile shipped 32,000 tons of apples to the Russian Federation in the 2012/13 season. This is a decrease of 14% year-on-year and the lowest result for the past 4 seasons. In comparison, Russia imported 37,000 tons of Chilean apples in the season of 2011/12.

Despite the reduction in export, Chile has managed to remain the seventh largest exporter of apples to the Russian Federation for the second season in a row.

Chilean exporters have announced their plans to reduce export to Russia and Europe due to markets in the Middle East, Far East and USA being more attractive.
