Australia’s largest biological persimmon farm is up for auction
The owners decided to sell the farm because they are moving back to their native country of Switzerland to continue their Agronomy consulting business throughout Europe.
The farm received several awards for their outstanding sustainable growing practices and several Export and Business awards.
Currently there are 11,200 non astringent, seedless persimmons trees (Jiro. Fuyu) and 2,000 Stone Fruit trees in production.
During the picking time, mid February to beginning of April, Mary Valley Orchards is an important employer to the local region. Fruit is shipped directly into the Asian markets (Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand) as well as into the domestic markets through market agents.
The owners are confident that the farm will continue its operation. βIt is making good profit and it is set up to run as business and not as a hobby farm.β All the equipment is state of the art, including the computerized sorting and packing equipment, to handle the volume of fruit and quick turn around.
