Kenya: Nakumatt plans mobile convenience stores

Nakumatt Holdings has announced plans to introduce a containerized mini retail store to provide shopping solutions during events in remote locations.

The new retail store will be developed and housed in a 20 foot shipping container and will be available for rapid deployment countrywide.

As part of the firm’s business expansion plans, the new store will be aptly, operated under the ‘Nakumatt on Wheels’ (NoW) brand name and will be transported to any part of Kenya on a 12-tone truck.

Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Atul Shah, said the first NoW store will be on location on June 1, during the forthcoming 25th Rhino Charge off road motoring event.

The store, Shah explained, will be appropriately stocked depending on the nature of event and location to boost retail convenience in Kenya.

“By introducing NoW, we are keeping up with our mission to provide retail convenience to our smart shoppers even in remote locations,” Shah said.

“NoW will also enable us to support various fundraising initiatives’ geared at environmental conservation by encouraging our customers to participate.”

Currently undergoing structural fabrication at Nakumatt Headquarters, the NoW store will feature retail amenities including, computerized checkout tills and refrigeration units.
