Less melon in Spain and Portugal
The first batches of Piel de Sapo melon are being collected in West Almeria, while Yellow and Cantaloupe melons will be delayed a couple of weeks.
Black watermelon with seeds prices range between 0.50 and 0.55 € / kg, while the striped watermelon is between 0.50-0.65 € / kg and the seedless black watermelon is between 1.05 to 1.25 € / kg.
The high humidity and lack of sunlight of the second fortnight of March caused the fruit to have difficulties setting and some delay in the earliest watermelons.
