India: Apple growers fail to secure increased import protection

Indian apple growers facing competition in their domestic market from import, have been looking to secure more protection measures. However, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Anand Sharma has revealed that there is no possibility of further tariff rises.

The current duty imposed, 50%, is the maximum permitted by a General Tariff Agreement with the World trade Organisation.
