Lidl extends logistic centre in Switzerland
The largest building in Thurgau (Switzerland) is set to become even bigger. Lidl Switzerland extends its distribution and logistic center on the western side of Weinfelden to the value of about 20 million Swiss Francs, as announced by the company last week. Last Tuesday the first spade was put into the ground.
Building activities will last till the end of the year. How many new jobs (if any) would be created, the media spokeswoman Cheryl Zwicker could not say yet last Wednesday. That depends on further expansion in Switzerland.
In the next step, a second distribution center in Sévaz will be created. The planning and preparations are running according to plan. The project in Sévaz has not been postponed. A starting date, however, has not as yet been announced, says Zwicker.
Lidl opened the first shops in Switzerland in 2009 and at present has more than 89 branches here. It is not known yet how many there will be at the end of the year or at the end of 2014.
