Hans Derks (FresQ Sales): 100ha less of peppers

"Good prospects for Dutch pepper season"

After a few difficult years in pepper sales the expectations for the Dutch pepper season are high. "And the way it's looking at the moment, they should be. A good start is expected. Last year the import prices were a lot lower in this period, but now they're at a good level," says sales leader Hans Derks of FresQ Sales.

The start of the green pepper season, however, is bad. "Not enough flowpacks are being sold from Holland and that is the base for green pepper. The other colours are awaited eagerly. The expectation is that we will get some supply of the other colours next week," says Hans. "Holland also has a little less pepper area this year, 100 hectares less, due to company cessation and a switch to tomatoes or other cultivations."
