Ukraine: More vegetable storage planned

Over the past two years in Ukraine 104 vegetable storage with a total capacity of 492,000 tonnes were built with the support of the state. In addition, according to the State Program of Activation Economic Development for 2013-2014, it is planed to build further with a capacity total of 140 thousand tonnes for storage of fruits, berries and grapes.

This will avoid significant seasonal fluctuations and reduce imports of fruit and vegetables, according to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

The Minister added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is developing mechanisms to encourage the construction of cooperative stores. So small and medium farmers always will have somewhere to store crops, and to sell their products during the year.
