Spain: Mallorca to export increased potato volumes

Mallorca has had a dry and mild Winter this year and, as a result, has produced some very good quality potatoes. A high proportion of which are destined to be exported to the UK as growers there have been far less lucky with the weather.

St Pobla in the Norrth of Mallorca is renowned for its potato production and has already started to harvest. More than half of the crop will be exported to the UK and other areas that have had poor results themselves, such as Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

Last year 12.5 million kilos of potatoes were exported from Spain, around 7 million kilos of which were from Mallorca.
