Kazakhstan develops new dietary potato

Kazakhstan scientists have developed a new breed of potatoes. The researchers say that the new variety is as healthy as broccoli. They are referring to the breed as a dietary potato. It has taken 8 years from the project inception to reach the stage where the potato has been unveiled.

The potato was cross bred with wild, South American potatoes and has been specially adapted for the Northern climate.

In the near future the new variety will be sold throughout the markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

There are hopes that the potato will eventually be exported more widely.
