Germany: Frozen food market growing

The future is looking positive for frozen foods: the German association called Deutsches Tiefkühlinstitut (dti) suggests that the market for frozen foods will have grown by around 1 percent throughout the year 2012. The total turnover would come to 3.35 million tonnes. This figure was 3.31 million tonnes last year. The annual consumption of frozen foods will probably rise from 40.4 kg in 2011 to 40.8 kg in 2012. If the rest of the year continues in this way, the dti estimates an increase of 2 percent and would thereby exceed the limit of 12 million Euro for the first time ever. The dti expects the largest growth to be in the wholesale sector.
