Vietnam: Chinese grapes found to contain over high pesticide levels
The fruits were imported into the province of Lao Cai and are widely sold on the Mekong Delta.
Nguyen Xuan Hong, director of the department, said that the data came out after a month-long test on 104 samples of foreign fruits and vegetables that are on sale at local markets.
Chinese grapes are sold at VND20,000-40,000 per kg ($1-$2 US), often under the misleading label of "American grapes." Inspections also revealed that the original cost of the grapes was only VND 6,000 per kg.
