EU: The countdown to the New Zealand season has begun

On Monday, April 23, 2012, the first ship with Enza New Zealand apples will arrive in the port of Antwerp. On board will be the first Cox Orange Pippin apples, and small-caliber Royal Gala and the first Jazz. The second boat is expected on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

The weather in New Zealand was rather unfavourable. Due to the relatively cold and wet weather, the harvest is approximately 10 days later and the size of the apples is smaller than in a typical year. Fortunately, conditions were still favourable for the colour and taste and we can still expect excellent quality.

The European Jazz season has now finished. With a total volume of 18,000 tons, which was marketed in Europe, we may look back on an excellent last season.

Our first Jazz arrival, at week 17, from the southern hemisphere, is timed so that we can connect almost seamlessly with our European season. This is the year that all year round supply of Jazz is a fact.
