US: Aldi plans Florida expansion
The facility will serve Aldi stores in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade markets.
Aldi spokeswoman Lauren Acosta confirmed the plans, but said the project sill must go through approval steps before it is finalized.
“There is no firm date for a closing on the property as we are now beginning the due diligence process which includes surveys, engineering and permitting,” she said.
Aldi first entered the Florida market in 2008 and there are 52 stores open now, with a 53rd planned to open Jan. 19, Acosta said.
Aldi reportedly plans to add 60 to 70 more stores in the Florida market over the next several years.
“There is no concrete timeline at this point,” Acosta said. “We have been expanding rapidly, as our 52 store count since the fall of 2008 suggests, and we plan to continue a similar rapid expansion pace.”
Acosta said Aldi self-distributes all products sold in its stores, including produce.
