Sowing of the 2025 onion crop in São Paulo is nearing completion. However, due to financial challenges faced by producers in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the current crop in São José do Rio Pardo and Monte Alto is expected to show a reduction in planted area.
Planting preparations began in late February in both regions but were affected by rainfall, which caused delays and operational difficulties. Despite this, field activities are at an advanced stage and are expected to be completed in May.
In São José do Rio Pardo, around 95% of the area has been sown, while in Monte Alto, sowing is estimated at 75 to 80%.
Harvesting is expected to begin in late June.
Crop development has been progressing under generally favorable conditions. However, areas more affected by rainfall may show lower yields.
