Michael Jan, CEO of Jan Fruits:

“I work tirelessly with growers overseas to deliver exotic premium crops to America”

Bringing the taste and flavour of exotic fruit and vegetable from around the world to the U.S. remains a lifelong passion for Michael Jan and Annie Chen, founders of Jan Fruits. They are importers and wholesale distributors of a wide variety of exotics including their best seller, fresh coconuts marketed as Coco Ready.

Jan Fruits imports a high volume and supplies a wide variety of exotics throughout the whole year, This includes the following: “We are known for our delicious coconuts from Thailand. Pitahaya, red dragon fruits from Ecuador, Lux Jolly Melon and watermelon from Mexico. The following commodities come from different Asian countries such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Republic of China, and Korea. Our products vary from Durian, longan, various types of pear such as – Sand Pear, laurel pear, autumn pear, Ya pear, Fragrant pear, nansui pear, golden pear, singo pear - lychee, Burdock, ginger, Star Fruit, Apple, Fuiji Apple, Nagaimo, Japanese Apple Juice, Coco Ready, guava, lily bulb, pomelo white and red, and squash. We currently do not sell to end users directly we are wholesale distributors, but you can found our products throughout Asian supermarkets,” explains Jan.

His love for fresh produce started in his native Taiwan where he grew up as a child in the 1980’s. He helped his dad with his agricultural export business back home and moved to the U.S. after college. Jan worked in the produce department of a major Asian grocery supermarket. “There, I was delighted to work with native fruits and produce from my homeland that I dearly missed. In this foreign land, the sweet taste of lychee and Asian pear reminded me of wonderful childhood memories. Enjoying these familiar products provided me great emotional comfort and delight, miles away from my homeland. My passion to share this experience with others that gave birth to our company, Jan Fruits, in 2000. Since then, I have worked tirelessly with growers overseas, especially in Asia, to deliver premium crops to the American market. Our commitment to sourcing the highest quality fruits from around the world has helped us expand into a leading distributor. Through our growth, we have stayed committed to the core values of our company-providing international produce marked by premium selection and quality.”

Jan says they are looking to expand further in their primary U.S. market. “We hope to grow our Market to the East Coast in the near future, and we also hope to expand into Canada. Our biggest market is our fresh coconuts. We guarantee our coconuts will always have a sweet taste and always provide the freshest quality. We supply fresh coconut year-round and are recently re introducing our Coco Ready into the market. Our Coco Ready are fresh young coconuts that are easy to open by simply pressing down on the push in straw.”

“Our Sweet melons are doing well in the U.S. market, there are many variety of melons in the market but we truly believe ours has a unique exquisite taste. The prices of our melons change depending on the size and time of the year,” explains Jan.

Looking forward to IFPA show
“This year we are super excited to be attending the PMA show in our town. We will be showcasing our delicious melons and Coco Ready and our delicious pears. We hope to see many familiar faces but also hope to create new relationships with new potential customers and new business partners,” concludes Jan.
