Walmart Canada is offering delivery in as fast as 30 minutes to its customers through this pilot, powered by Instacart and facilitated directly through existing Walmart stores.

US: Publix breaks ground on first Kentucky location
Publix Super Markets has broken ground on its first store in Kentucky and unveiled plans for a third location in the state. Announced last September, the 55,701-square-foot Publix supermarket at 2500 Terra Crossing Blvd. in the Terra Crossing Shopping Center in Louisville, Kentucky, is expected to be completed in the 2023 fourth quarter, Publix said. The store will bring the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer into its eighth state.

UK: Retail sales fall as shoppers in Great Britain cut back on food spending
Britons are spending less on food as rising prices force them to cut back on their weekly supermarket shop, the latest official figures have shown. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said smaller grocery bills were the main factor behind a 0.5% drop in retail sales in Great Britain last month.

British retailers reported a year-on-year fall in sales in June and expect sales next month to be well below normal for the time of year as the surging cost of living erodes shoppers' disposable income, a survey showed. The Confederation of British Industry said the balance of retailers reporting sales below normal, rather than above normal, fell to -19 in June from zero in May, and was expected to decline further to -25 in July.

Norway: Coop sees revenue, market share up in FY 2021
Coop Norway has reported growth in revenue and market share in its financial year 2021, a year that saw tough competition and increased costs erode its profit margin. Revenue at the group, which also operates building materials, real estate and finance businesses, amounted to NOK72.2bln, up from NOK71.1bln in 2020. The company’s operating profit (EBIT) reached NOK2.1bln, while profit before tax expense (EBT) was NOK2.6bln.
