The EU confirms it will continue carrying out pesticide controls on Turkish lemons and grapefruits in the second half of 2022

The European Commission has decided to continue carrying out the additional controls on Turkish lemons and grapefruits in order to verify compliance with the European pesticide MRL rules.

AILIMPO has been monitoring alerts in the RASFF system and asked the EU to maintain the system of exceptional controls. This is established by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 202/913 of 30 May 2022, which was published on June 13.

Checks on Turkish lemon: 20% of batches imported into the EU
Checks on Turkish grapefruit: 10% of batches imported into the EU

These controls will be in force for 6 months from the entry into force of the Regulation and will therefore be extended until the end of December 2022.
