+Broccoli presented its roadmap to increase broccoli consumption in the next 5 years

"The goal is increasing broccoli consumption to 5 kilos per capita"

According to data released yesterday at the XIII Assembly of the +Broccoli Association, in recent years, broccoli consumption has increased from 200 grams per capita to 2 kilograms. The +Broccoli Association was established in 2010 with the aim of promoting the consumption of this crucifer and divulging its properties and benefits.

The Assembly was held at the Rincón Huertano de Murcia restaurant and was entitled ‘Together we are more’. In it, the +Broccoli Association presented the roadmap to increase per capita consumption to 5 kilos in the next five years, stated the president of +Broccoli, Antonia Maria Piernas Millan.

It should be noted that Spain has about 50,000 hectares of broccoli crops, which produce 600,000 tons of fresh product, 90% of which is exported to Europe. "Spain produces half of the broccoli that is exported and eaten in Europe, 80% of which is produced in the Region of Murcia," stated the president of the entity.

Participation in European programs
The association has participated in different European programs to promote this vegetable. On the one hand, last year, +Broccoli was part of the European program ‘Cute-4 You. Cultivating the taste of Europe for you’, which was co-financed by the European Commission and driven by a consortium led by FruitVegetablesEUROPE.

Moreover, the association is currently participating in ‘Cute Healthy - Growing a Healthy Europe with European Fruit and Vegetables’, a three-year European promotion program (currently in its second year) that was born to generate a social movement in support of the European fruit and vegetable sector, among other objectives.

‘Soy Fan de Ti’ promotional campaign
Currently, the Association + Broccoli is carrying out the national ‘Soy Fan de Ti’ campaign in different supermarkets in Spain, with the aim of encouraging the consumption of broccoli through different actions, such as sweepstakes and recipe contests. All the information about this campaign, which will run until April 10, is available athttps://soyfandeti.com.
