Provid estimates the country will export more than 64 million boxes

Peruvian table grape exports will increase by 12% in the 2021/2022 campaign

According to estimates, Peru will export 64 million boxes of table grapes (8.2 kilograms each unit) in the 2021/22 campaign, i.e. 12% more than in the 2020/2021 campaign. This is the third estimate made by the Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid) and it would be the first time that Peru would export more than sixty million boxes of table grapes in one campaign.

Provid pointed out that, as of January, the current campaign (2021/2022) is mainly characterized by the increase in exports of white seedless varieties (37%), and red seedless varieties (22%). "In line with growth, the Peruvian industry has been able to respond to the demand of international markets, focusing on adding value and diversifying its offer in the world," the association stated.

Two important factors for this growth are the results of grape exports from the north of the country, which are already in the final stage, and the results achieved in the south, specifically by Ica, which is in its peak export weeks, they added.

The United States continues to be the main export destination for the country's table grapes. It is followed by China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, and South Korea, a country that, up until January 2021, had an outstanding 40% significant growth in exports, compared to the previous campaign.
