US: More Fresco y Más stores upcoming from Southeastern Grocers
Southeastern Grocers is expanding its Fresco y Más supermarket banner with a pair of new stores. Plans call for the Hispanic grocery chain to open stores in Deltona and Tampa, Florida, in early November, Southeastern Grocers said. The 2 new stores would give Fresco y Más 29 locations overall. Most of its supermarkets are in South Florida, but the chain also has several units in Orlando in central Florida and Tampa on the Gulf side. The Deltona store brings the banner north of Orlando.

Ahold Delhaize USA has opened a new 1mln square-foot distribution center in Manchester, Connecticut, to serve its Stop & Shop supermarket chain. ADUSA Supply Chain, the retailer’s distribution and logistics arm, said that the DC will receive, select and transport 88mln cases of nonperishable grocery products annually for more than 450 Stop & Shop stores and e-commerce centers. The facility also features state-of-the-art technology to support “the future of food distribution”, according to the company.

Spanish retailer DIA has transformed the perishables sections of its stores in Brazil to offer more fresh products in a practical and modern way. As part of its 'Projeto Perecíveis' (Perishables Project), implemented between February and August 2021, DIA Brasil renovated the bakery, cold cuts, meat, fruit, vegetables and legumes sectors in 630 shops across the country.

E-commerce platform Blibli has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in publicly listed supermarket operator PT Supra Boga Lestari as it pursues a back-door listing. Supra Boga Lestari, which operates the Ranch Market grocery chain, announced that 797.9mln of its shares, 51%, would be acquired by PT Global Digital Niaga, the entity behind Blibli.
