UK vegetable grower Barfoots has launched a brand-new product called CauliShoots™. The long pale green stems are crowned with a small round floret. CauliShoots are edible from head to toe which means they suit current shopper trends, including health, scratch cooking and no waste. The product is available on Ocado priced at £2.00 for 250g and through select wholesalers.
The new veg has a sweet, nutty taste. CauliShoots are high in fibre and B vitamins, Vitamin C and Folate. It has been launched at a time when interest in healthy eating and scratch cooking has rarely been stronger.
2020 research by Public Health England in support of its ‘Better health new year’ campaign, showed that 43% of the UK population felt motivated to make changes to their life – 40% intended to eat more healthily and 39% intended to lose weight.* Respondents to 2021 YouGov research** suggest that 91% intend to continue to home cook as much as they did in 2020 and 81% would like to eat more healthily this year.

CauliShoots has been developed in partnership with Syngenta under the iStem™ brand. The UK growing season will run from June to October and Barfoots Spain will supply November to May. The product is being launched in the UK and will also be sold in Europe, starting with Scandinavia in 2022.
