Beijing Xinfadi wholesale market:

5,000-plus traders will stay to ensure market supply during Lunar New Year

The Xinfadi wholesale market was the epicenter of the Covid-19 outbreak in Beijing six months ago, but now it has entered "Spring Festival time". Today it was revealed that more than 5,000 merchants chose to remain open during Lunar New Year to ensure the city's supplies of agricultural (and other) products during the holidays.

This year, as local authorities encourage residents to celebrate the country's most important traditional holiday in cities where they work or live to support Covid-19 control work amid sporadic cluster infections having broken out in several places, large number of people will spend their Spring Festival in Beijing. The demand for various kinds of food in Beijing is also expected to increase compared to previous years.

As Xinfadi wholesale market is an important distribution center of Beijing's food supply, this year, more than 5,000 merchants in the market chose to stay in Beijing, compared to only about 2,000 traders staying during normal years, to fully ensure supplies while doing their best to prevent and control the epidemic.
