Chinese cucumber price fluctuates as second harvest enters the market

Most of the cucumbers in the Beijing market currently come from Langfang in Hebei, and some of them come from Inner Mongolia. The product quality of Hebei cucumbers is quite high, as is their price. The product quality of cucumbers from Inner Mongolia is slightly lower, and they are somewhat cheaper as well. Still, the price is higher than earlier in the season. The overall cucumber price has recently shown an upward trend. This is part of the seasonal fluctuation. Even though the price is rising, compared to the same period last year, the current price is still low. That is mainly because the cucumbers from Inner Mongolia recently entered the market.

The main reason for the price increase is the arrival of the second harvest. The cucumbers planted during the winter and spring have already left the market. Another round of cucumbers is planted during autumn and winter. These cucumbers have begun to enter the market, but only in small volumes so far. They will enter the market in large volumes in another couple of weeks. The cucumber price will then show a significant decline.
