Bihar State, India

Over 23 tons of Jardalu mangoes ordered online

In a bid to help mango farmers and to overcome their marketing problems during the lockdown, the Bihar state government with the help of the governmental Postal Department has introduced online booking orders for naturally ripened Jardalu mangoes out of Bhagalpur.

The Bihar Postal Circle made an agreement with the Department of Horticulture under the Baag Se Ghar Tak scheme (‘From the orchard to home’), for selling Sahi litchis from Muzaffarpur and Jardalu mangoes from Bhagalpur, delivering the fruit to customers’ doorsteps. People can place their order online.

Assistant director of the Department of Horticulture of Bhagalpur, Ajay Kumar Singh, said that 23,840 kgs of mangoes have been booked online. Each box will contain 5 kg of fresh Jardalu mangoes which will be delivered by a postman. "Mangoes are scheduled to be delivered from June 'I to June 20, besides the ongoing online bookings," Singh added.
