Cactus leather and pineapple-leaf wool:

Eco fabrics we could soon be wearing

At a current London expo, eco fabrics of the future that use plants and natural waste instead of artificial fibres are being showcased.

Cactus leather, wool made of pineapple leaves sourced from leftovers at juice bars and innovative sportswear embedded with live bacteria to neutralise body odour all feature.

The sportswear has been designed by Rosie Broadhead who has injected probiotics that react with skin into garments for her Skin II range. Millions of “good” bacteria are encased in panels in key areas such as armpits and groin, and are “activated” when the wearer sweats.

According to standard.co.uk, Broadhead will showcase her latest Skin II concepts, which include underwear and bodysuits, left, at the Future Fabrics Expo in Bloomsbury.
