Papua New Guinea: Supplies of fresh goods dropping due to bad weather
The National Capital District receives most of its farm produce from the Central Province and Highlands region, but supply was extremely limited. According to Central Province police commander Chief Inspector Laimo Asi, a lot of food gardens -especially in inland Rigo- have been destroyed by flooding. There were no major casualties, but most food gardens were flooded and some banana trees were toppled.
The Post Courier reports: Crops that are grown in dry weather -such as Chinese cabbage- were affected by the rains as well. If this continues, the markets in the capital will definitively see shortages.
