Between January and September 2025, China exported 257,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables through the Manzhouli Highway Port in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in northern China. According to the city government of Manzhouli, the total export value reached 1.97 billion yuan (approximately USD 278 million), a 38.9% increase in volume and a 44.8% rise in value compared to the same period last year.
As temperatures drop during the winter months, maintaining the smooth flow of perishable goods becomes increasingly challenging. To ensure efficiency, local customs authorities have stepped up efforts to streamline customs procedures and enhance cold-chain logistics. A newly developed heated inspection warehouse at the port allows temperature-sensitive produce to undergo checks without delays or spoilage.
In addition, Manzhouli Customs has implemented a "green channel" to expedite clearance for fruit and vegetable shipments. This initiative is designed to reduce waiting times and improve the overall speed of cross-border trade, particularly for exporters targeting neighboring markets such as Russia and Mongolia.
With winter approaching, demand for off-season Chinese fruits and vegetables continues to grow in global markets. "We are committed to providing efficient and reliable services to support the steady export of high-quality produce from across China via the Manzhouli checkpoint," a representative from Manzhouli Customs said.
