Kyrgyzstan’s vegetable imports from China surge sixfold, fruit and nut imports fall in June 2025

According to China's General Administration of Customs, Kyrgyzstan imported $38.4 million worth of vegetables from China in June 2025, six times more than the same period last year.

The sharp rise was mainly due to potato imports, which reached $18.3 million. No potatoes were imported from China in June 2024. Onion imports also resumed, totaling $3.5 million. Carrot imports increased 114-fold to $4.9 million.

In contrast, imports of fruits and nuts from China to Kyrgyzstan decreased 31.7% year-on-year in value terms, amounting to $31 million in June. Volumes dropped by 40% to 20,000 tons. The decline was driven by reduced imports of bananas, apples, lemons, and peaches.
