Navua-based Kaiming Agro Pte Ltd, established in Fiji in 2005, is a prominent producer and exporter of ginger. The company launched its Zing Fiji Ginger in 2006 and has since become a key exporter of ginger, turmeric, and kava.
According to Investment Fiji, Kaiming is planning a new warehouse to support future growth, targeting an annual production of 2000 tons of baby ginger. "Kaiming has plans to develop a new warehouse to support its future growth, and it's targeting to produce 2000 tons of baby ginger annually in the future," Investment Fiji stated.
The Ministry of Agriculture supported this initiative through a grant of $150,000 under the Commercial Agricultural Development Program during the 2023-2024 financial year. This investment allowed Kaiming to increase its pool storage capacity from 25 to 40 tons, enhancing export potential to the United States to 500 tons of mature ginger.
Plans include increasing the baby ginger market to 3000 tons and the mature ginger market to 1200 tons, as indicated by the Agricultural Ministry. Additionally, Kaiming's ginger juice has found a market in Europe, where consumer demand has evolved since the pandemic.
The company seeks to diversify its offerings with ginger-based confectionery products. Kaiming employs 180 staff, predominantly women, showing a commitment to local employment.
