The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) indicates that domestic exports in April 2025 totaled $44.5 million, marking a 21.9 percent reduction compared to $56.9 million in April 2024. Despite being 2025's highest monthly total thus far, declines in critical export segments influenced this decrease.
Bananas and citrus were among the agricultural products that faced contractions. Banana revenues fell to $7.8 million from $9.2 million, while citrus earnings dropped from $1.9 million to $1.3 million.
Reviewing January to April 2025, citrus products showed positive movement overall. Citrus exports rose by $3.8 million, increasing from $4.4 million in 2024 to $8.1 million in 2025, attributed to improved demand.
