China seeks more Cambodian Au Khak durians

Wang Wenbin, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, discussed the potential for increased exports of 'Au Khak Durian' to China during a farm visit organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC). 'Au Khak Durian' is a variety cultivated in Cambodia, notably in Kampot and Kampong Cham provinces.

"I am happy to visit a durian farm in Kampot and taste 'Au Khak', the best durian in the world," stated the Chinese envoy, expressing gratitude to the YEAC for the visit. He added, "I hope a lot more of these wonderful Cambodian durians will be exported to China in the future."

Cambodia can now directly export fresh durians to China due to a new phytosanitary protocol between the two nations. Previously, exports often passed through Thailand and Vietnam. Chinese markets have shown increasing demand for various Cambodian agricultural products, including durian.
