First Onix oranges arrived at Guido Fruit

"We've never seen a colour like this in fresh produce ranges"

Last Monday, the first shipment of Onix oranges arrived at Guido Fruit. This orange variety, which won the Innovation Award at the last Fruit Logistica, stands out for its deep burgundy color. "It's a color we've actually never seen before in the fruit and vegetable range. We're very excited about it, and so are our customers. Those who came for the first load on Monday are already returning for the second arrival tomorrow," says Guido Jr. Heerman of the Belgian importer.

"Our Onix orange grower has been a trusted supplier for about 20 years, so we'll now have shipments arriving twice a week until the end of March," he explains. "We are very pleased with the quality. The flavor is excellent, and it also performs
well in terms of shelf life."

The Onix orange, from Genesis Fresh, is notable for its striking color and juicy, naturally pigmented flesh with a rich flavor. In addition, it has a naturally high yield and is remarkably rich in antioxidants and vitamins, as highlighted when it was awarded the Innovation Award.

Guido Jr. is optimistic about the future. "It's obviously a very new product, but there's already a lot of interest. Sales are strong, and customers are returning for more. Whether demand and sales will remain sustainable in the coming years remains to be seen, but the initial reception is promising, and we see great potential in it."
