The Port of Chancay in Peru is seeing an increase in maritime services. Alphaliner reports that COSCO Shipping Lines will launch a new service, 'Chancay Express' ('CHX'), targeting ports in Chile's south-central region starting next March.
The 'CHX' service will include stops at Chancay, Lirquén, San Antonio, Chancay again, and finally Callao, following a two-week schedule. Initially, this service will be operated by a single vessel, the 2,586 TEU "Lakonia", with its first departure from Chancay set for March 8.
This new service is the fourth addition to the Port of Chancay's offerings. It joins the 'WSA3' service of COSCO Shipping Lines on the Far East-WCSA route, the 'WSA5' / 'TLP5' service of COSCO Shipping Lines and OOCL on the Far East-Mexico-WCSA route, and the Chile-Peru Express 'CPX' regional service by X-Press Feeders.
The Port of Chancay, managed by COSCO Shipping Ports, was inaugurated in November of the previous year. It has an annual design capacity of 1.50 MTEUs.
