Green Motion Avocados will present the LUNA UCR variety for the first time in Europe

Pollination and bees, the stars of Eurosemillas' renewed varietal offer

The renewed varietal offer that Eurosemillas will take to Fruit Attraction this year revolves around the value of pollination and the decisive role that bees play in this natural process, which balances ecosystems and guarantees fruit and vegetable production.

The Spanish company will present the LUNA ucr avocado, a new avocado variety, for the first time in Europe. This variety could revolutionize this crop as it is the first ‘pollinator’ with a type B flower, and it can become the main variety of avocado farms. The company will also start offering its Kino mandarins, which it successfully promoted a few months ago in Valencia. This differential mandarin stands out thanks to its excellent flavor, extra-large harvest, and because it also facilitates coexistence with bees. In addition, Eurosemillas will also present two extra-early strawberry varieties that are about to end their field trial phase. These two strawberries, Avanto and Belvedere, are sustainable because they are resistant to the main fungi that attack this crop and because they have a very small water footprint.

Eurosemillas will continue to promote and defend the Tang Gold, its most global mandarin. It will showcase its excellent results throughout the EU as well as the spectacular growth of its Tango Fruit brand, especially in the United Kingdom where this year it improved its 2022 results by more than 120%.

Pollination will also be a star at Eurosemillas' stand in Hall 8, (8C02). The stand's design will have two-meter-high empty hexagons that are reminiscent of the wax cells that the worker bees build. On its longitudinal flanks, it will have other hexagons where the company will display images of the varieties it offers.

At the end of the testing phase, there are two very promising extra-early strawberry varieties: Adelanto and Belvedere. These varieties would allow significant savings in fungicides as they have developed resistance to the Macrophomina, Fusarium, and Verticillium fungi. In addition, their hardiness and adaptability to all environments will also reduce their water footprint.
