First-time CPMA exhibitor puts tropical and exotic fruits into the spotlight

WP Produce—a Miami-based and family-owned grower, packer and shipper of  Desbry® brand tropical fruits and roots—will showcase its commodities during the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) Convention and Trade Show. WP Produce joins Fresh From Florida and the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), as a first-time exhibitor.

“With our Desbry® fruits and roots grown in tropical climates, we can source a variety of commodities year-round to help meet customer demand within the Canadian market,” said Desiree Pardo Morales, VP of WP Produce and founder of direct-to-consumer sister company Tropical Fruit Box. “This is a great opportunity for WP Produce and our Desbry brand to expand our involvement with one of the largest trading relationships in the world.”

During the show, WP Produce will join Fresh From Florida at the SUSTA pavilion, booth 1429, and feature its Desbry Tropical Avocado, a larger-sized variety that is slower to oxidize; mango, offering year-round varieties; guava, a WP exclusive, that can only be U.S. sourced from Florida; Manzano and Burro Bananas; and other exotic fruits from Florida including Dragon Fruit and Star Fruit.

“We are excited to introduce our tropical and exotic fruits during our first CPMA where we can meet with current and new customers to help deliver on market demand,” said Christopher Gonzalez, VP of sales. “Together with retailers, we can achieve sales growth by combining our category expertise with their shopper segments’ predisposition for certain tropical and exotic fruit varieties.”

Committed to product line diversity for the end-user and innovative packaging for customers, WP Produce sources from growers with the best quality for that specific commodity and has an efficient supply chain for consistent inventory year-round. Desbry brand tropical and exotic fruits and roots come in shelf-extending packaging from the shipping container to retail delivery for high-quality customer supply.

WP Produce founder, Willy Pardo, started the company in 1984 selling exotic and tropical produce to neighbors who could not easily find fruits and roots at their local grocery stores. Today, WP Produce is a full-line purveyor of tropical and exotic items and continues to be family owned and operated with Willy Pardo’s daughter, Desiree Pardo Morales, vice president, and his nephew, Christopher Gonzalez, vice president of sales, focused on the expansion of its branded produce.

The show takes place in Toronto, Canada on April 25-27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC).
