In the last few years, Vietnamese businesses are seeking to export more fresh dragon fruits to overseas markets as the demand for this fruit is increasing globally. Dragon fruit is seen as one of Vietnam's key export products.

China is one of the key markets, mainly because Chinese demand for dragon fruit is growing, with consumers buying more tropical fruit as they explore a wider array of foods, spawning a rise in imports from Vietnam. Regarding the export market development of Vietnamese dragon fruit, Andy from V.A.F Vietnam Agriculture Food CO., LTD shared her insights with FreshPlaza.

V.A.F Vietnam Agriculture Food CO., LTD has a large dragon fruit farm which occupies 4000 ha in Binh Thuan province. Andy mentioned, “We can supply dragon fruit all year round with 7500 tons per month, equivalent as 150 container of 40'RF. In Vietnam, the peak production season of dragon fruit is from April to October."
In terms of the varieties and the key export markets, she said: ”We export both white and red dragon fruit, depending on the tastes of the destination country. Comparatively, the demand for white flesh dragon fruit is higher than that of red flesh. At this moment, we export dragon fruits to China, Netherlands, US, UK, Belgium, and Dubai. These markets have had a large demand for dragon fruit recently and this is growing every year."

Regarding the Chinese market, V.A.F Vietnam Agriculture Food CO., LTD exports around 100 containers of dragon fruits per month. They are open to all destinations, on a case-by-case basis the company will try its best to accommodate the customers’ requirements.
