Fear of more price increases

Pune: Vegetables more expensive due to rains

The quality of fruits and vegetables available in Pune has been affected due to rain and the demand for vegetables has increased. The price of fruits and vegetables has increased by 20 to 25 percent and there is fear of further price increases.

Due to the ongoing rains in the Pune division for the past week, there has been a huge loss of vegetables. Vegetables are spoiling due to the rains. That is why there has been an increase in the demand for good quality fruits and vegetables and the price has increased by 20 to 25 percent, said Prakash Dhamdere, a vegetable trader in Pune’s retail market.

The arrival of fruits and vegetables in the market has decreased for the last two to three days.
