The destinations of Spanish fresh fruit and vegetable exports remained unchanged in 2022. The bulk of sales continued to be directed to the EU; in January, shipments to EU territory accounted for 79% of the total value exported, totaling €1,211 million, while shipments outside Europe only accounted for 3% of the total, i.e. €46.7 million.
Sales outside the EU, but at the European level, amounted to 319 million euro with the United Kingdom as the first destination for Spanish fruit and vegetable products with 219 million euros.
Outside of Europe, Canada was the first destination market for Spanish fruits and vegetables with 8.7 million euros. However, exports to this destination declined by 5% over January 2021. Meanwhile, exports to Arab countries increased sharply. Export to Saudi Arabia amounted to 4.9 million euro (-108%) and exports to the United Arab Emirates totaled 3.8 million euro (+38%) according to data from the Department of Customs and Excise, processed by FEPEX.
