Following the organizer's postponement of Fruit Logistica to April 5-7, 2022, several parties have been discussing whether it would be appropriate for the industry to maintain a presence at Fruit Logistica in the spring, Swisscofel reports.
Trade fair presence: the Swiss stand
"April is an important month for the fruit/vegetable/potato sector in Switzerland. In the vegetable sector, the new season is in full swing, important seasonal business is just around the corner and the Easter holidays are just 1 week away. It is also the time of transition from import to domestic and many varieties are sown and planted. In potatoes, we will be coming to the end of the storage campaign, early potatoes from import are on the market and planning is already underway for the early potato campaign from Switzerland."
"All in all, the entire industry considers the timing in April for Fruit Logistica to be anything but optimal, which has logically led to this decision: SwissCofel, VSGP, SOV and Swisspatat have unanimously decided to cancel their participation in this year's fair."
"We regret that we will not be able to hold this annual fixture in 2022 either, but we are convinced that this decision was also made in the spirit of the members of the individual organizations. We will work to ensure that in the 2023 edition, hopefully in February, we can again occupy the usual exhibition spaces."
