Geopolitical strategist keynote speaker for citrus showcase

California Citrus Mutual will host the 2021 Virtual Citrus Showcase on Thursday, March 4. The event will feature famed author and geopolitical strategist Pete Zeihan for a conversation about global market trends and evolving international trade relations.

Zeihan combines an understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology and security to help clients best prepare for an uncertain future.

He has worked for the U.S. State Department in Australia, the DC think tank community and has also helped develop analytical models for private intelligence firm Stratfor. In 2012, Zeihan founded his firm Zeihan on Geopolitics to provide select clients, including agricultural businesses, with direct, custom analytical products.

In his keynote speech, Zeihan will provide an analysis of the trade relationships of interest to the citrus industry. His keen eye for what will drive tomorrow’s headlines further provides insight for growers making near and long-term business decisions. His ability to transform complicated topics into relevant takeaways should make for a thought-provoking showcase.

“We are extremely pleased to have a speaker of Mr. Zeihan’s caliber for the Citrus Showcase,” says Casey Creamer, CCM president and CEO. “Our members will gain new insights on the market and labor conditions that they need to plan for their future.”

Following Zeihan’s presentation, Matt Fisher, CCM chairman and president of the Crop Management Company will moderate a panel discussion about the implications of Zeihan’s analysis to the citrus industry as well as offer thoughts on what we can do as an industry. Panelists include Brian Neufeld, president of Neufeld Ag, Inc.; Keith Watkins, vice-president of farming for Bee Sweet Citrus; and Jim Finch, president of Finch Family Farms.

The Citrus Showcase is open to the public and free of charge. Growers and allied agricultural industry members are invited to join us for an in-depth look at the industry’s future. Click here to register.
