Production of premium garlic on the rise at one Queensland farm

A Queensland garlic grower is set to experience a rise in production, despite the drought resulting in fewer plantings in 2020.

All Aussie Farmers, situated at the Melbourne Wholesale Market, is a fresh fruit marketing company that works in partnership with Clearview Valley.

Clearview Valley is a farm is located west of Brisbane, which produces garlic from September through to October, with the peak being expected within the next fortnight.

"This year due to the drought, the volume Clearview Valley planted is less - but the yield per acre is up compared to other years. But future plantings will be significantly higher," All Aussie Farmers Founder and Managing Director Travis Murphy said.

Clearview Valley is family run and owned by a fifth-generation farm, that strives to grow high-quality produce that is "too good for the big supermarkets". Apart from garlic, the company also grows Hass avocados and stone fruit, including peaches and nectarines.

"Fruit Shops/Green Grocers appreciate the premium pack and superior taste that Clearview Valley delivers," Mr Murphy said. "All Aussie Farmers only supports Australian growers. The drive for Clearview Valley Garlic is the premium quality. Fruit shops and Greengrocers look for better quality Australian Garlic as soon as it’s available because they prefer the better, fresher, and more flavourful garlic for their customers."

Mr Murphy added that due to the drought Clearview Valley's avocados were high quality but smaller than usual, but looking into next year the trees are currently holding a heavy set of flowers.

Also known as All Aussie Avocados Pty Ltd, the company focuses on the year-round supply of Australian-grown produce specializing but not limiting itself to avocados. Mr Murphy says it has positioned itself as a supplier of premium quality fruit to consumers through Premium Fruit Shops, restaurants, and direct marketing customers.

"All Aussie Farmers’ intention is to change the paradigm, giving growers better returns for their effort, and supplying customers with a premium product of consistent quality giving them value for their investment," he said. "All Aussie Farmers is comprised of a core team who have been in the fruit and vegetable industry for over 30 years. The team has experience in the areas of production, agronomy, industry advocacy and representation, sales, and business management over all sections of the fresh produce supply chain."
