“We hope to work even closer with the global garlic industry in the future”

"China committed to continue providing quality garlic to the world"

The importance of garlic in China, the world's largest garlic producer, is self-evident. While farmers in this country have accumulated rich experience, they are still working hard to improve the quality and taste of their products. The Sub-chamber of Garlic, China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal by-Products (The Sub-chamber of Garlic, CFNA) is an organization engaged in trade services and related activities in the industry. They organize the China Garlic Annual Meeting each year, where experts share industry information and the latest news to participants.

“The COVID-19 outbreak has affected the garlic market, with the most notable being the issues we are facing in international logistics with longer transit and many uncertainties. Another impact is demand, where the demand from affected industries such as the catering industry has reduced. The situation in China has improved and is now quite stable. With business and production returning to normal, export is also gradually resuming, but circumstances may change with the development of the global pandemic in the future, as international trade is still affected by it. So far we haven’t received any news about countries suspending imports,” according to the Sub-chamber of Garlic that analyzed the garlic market over the past few months.

Market development
Although Chinese garlic has been exported to most countries and regions, there are still many possibilities to expand existing markets or seek new markets. "China has a long history in exporting garlic, and our garlic has been exported to more than 140 countries and regions in the world. Nevertheless, this product still has great potential in market development. For example, there is a lot of room for development in the African market,” the organization said.

Direction
“The demand for organic products is increasing at home and abroad, and organic garlic has become a trending topic in the industry over recent years. Especially in some European countries where consumers attach great importance to organic garlic,” the Sub-chamber said.

“At the same time, China is also paying more and more attention to organic garlic, and many regions have been constantly trialling. We believe that organic garlic will become increasingly important at home and abroad in the future. " In order to introduce more people to the Chinese garlic sector, the Sub-chamber made a special video, shown here below:

It can be seen from the increasing demand for organic products that people are attaching higher importance to health. "Garlic is widely appreciated by consumers around the world. It is rich in nutrients and has been used as an ingredient since ancient times. It also has high medicinal value. In addition to being consumed fresh and used in cooking, garlic can also be processed into various products. China is committed to providing global consumers with high-quality fresh garlic, garlic powder and slices, frozen garlic, and other products, and strives to develop more diverse products to enrich the global consumer's dining table."
