"Chinese ginger price will not show sudden rise in near future"

"The overall production volume of Chinese ginger greatly declined in comparison with last season because weather conditions in production areas were not favorable. As a result, the export price went up and many European importers reduced the volume of their orders." This is according to Mr. Zhang Shuhan of Jining Greenstream Fruits and Vegetables Co., Ltd.

"European importers stored old ginger at the end of last year and they are currently importing only small volumes of fresh ginger. Many European importers are waiting to see how the market will develop. After Chinese Spring Festival [25 January, 2020], when the market will begin to consume reserves, then European market demand will go up again," explained Mr. Zhang.

"Domestic production declined by nearly one-third, but product quality is higher than last year. The price was relatively high at the start of the season, but then declined. The production of low-priced ginger from production areas in northeast China will cease after Spring Festival, and then the price of ginger will rise again. Some traders with ginger in storage have high expectations of the market development after Spring Festival. However, I think that while reduced production and increased speculation have created some room for the price to rise, the relation between supply and demand still sets a certain limit, and the price of ginger is not likely to show a sudden rise in the near future."

Jining Greenstream Fruits and Vegetables is a company specialized in ginger export. The company has more than 20 years of experience in this industry. Greenstream Fruits and Vegetables will participate in the Berlin Fruit Logistica on February 5-7. Visitors are welcome at the company stand in hall 5.2C at booth 08A. "We export 2 thousand tons of ginger to North America, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Russia every year. Our export volume has always been stable. This year, while we continue to maintain our loyal customers, we will also focus our attention on the European market. We are particularly eager to establish good relations with clients in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom," said Mr. Zhang.
