The Mexican state of Morelos seeks to boost exports to Europe

The Secretary of Agricultural Development, Margarita Galeana Torres, stated that the Mexican state of Morelos was preparing a round of trade missions, which would start in January 2020, to boost exports of agricultural products to Europe and South America.

She also highlighted that they were in conversations with the Belgian Embassy so that the investors who import products can go to the entity and meet with the agricultural exporters of Morelos. They also requested having a meeting with the Netherlands in January to create these export links, as the Netherlands is a key country for the entry of exportable products to Europe.

According to Galeana Torres, Germany and China are interested in the products from Morelos thanks to their quality and production, "so they will be looking for a rapprochement with companies." Peru has already requested exporting pitahaya from Morelos.

Galeana Torres stressed that Morelos had already made several commercial alliances and that the entity already exported several products to these destinations. “This approach seeks to expand the entity's offer so that Morelos exports more products to more destinations,” she stated.

Finally, the official said that Morelos sent avocado, cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, pitahaya, honey, and fig, among other products, to Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
